Makoro Chickens: A Leading Force in Botswana’s Poultry Industry. Makoro Chickens has solidified its reputation as one of Botswana’s premier poultry suppliers, delivering high-quality chicken products across the country. Founded in 2004, the company is a 100% citizen-owned business led by Onkutule Makgatlhe, Wanano Bagwasi, and Chakalisa Bagwasi.

Located 15km south of Palapye, just off the Gaborone-Francistown highway, Makoro Chickens benefits from a strategic central position, making distribution across Botswana efficient. The company specializes in whole chickens, chicken pieces (available in 5kg and 2kg packages), and offals, catering to a wide range of consumer needs.

The farm boasts four open-sided poultry houses, each measuring 90×10 meters. These houses maintain a high stocking density of 14-17 birds per square meter, with each unit accommodating between 12,000 and 15,000 chicks.

A key competitive advantage for Makoro Chickens is its on-site slaughterhouse, which enables the company to process and package up to 10,000 birds per day. This integrated production system ensures that customers receive fresh, high-quality chicken products while maintaining strict food safety and quality standards.

Makoro Chickens continues to invest in advanced poultry farming techniques and operational efficiencies, ensuring sustainability and reliability in meeting market demand. The company’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, combined with a passionate workforce, has positioned it as a trusted name in Botswana’s poultry industry.

As demand for locally produced, high-quality poultry continues to grow, Makoro Chickens stands out as a key player driving Botswana’s food security and agricultural development.
