Botswana Adjusts Public Service Working Hours Due to Weather Conditions. The Directorate of Public Service Management has announced a temporary adjustment in working hours for public service employees due to prevailing weather conditions. The new schedule, effective from Thursday, 20 February 2025, to Friday, 21 February 2025, shortens working hours in an effort to accommodate employees under the current circumstances.

According to the official statement, public service employees will now start work later, from 07:30 to 09:00 hours, and will be allowed to finish their duties at 15:30 instead of the usual 16:30. This measure is expected to ease the impact of weather conditions on employees and public service operations.

The directive also emphasizes the need for accounting officers to ensure that a skeletal staff remains available in the afternoon to prevent any major disruptions to service delivery. This move aims to balance employee well-being with continued access to essential government services.

“The Directorate of Public Service Management urges public employees, stakeholders, and the general public to exercise caution and prioritize safety during this period,” reads the statement signed by Acting Chief Public Relations Officer, Chandapiwa Maele.

The temporary adjustment reflects the government’s commitment to employee welfare while maintaining operational efficiency. Members of the public seeking more information on the changes are advised to contact the Public Relations office at the provided contact numbers.
