Botswana and China Strengthen Ties with Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement. Botswana and China have reaffirmed their partnership through the signing of an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement, further strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.

The agreement was signed by Vice President and Minister of Finance, Mr. Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, on behalf of Botswana, and Ambassador Fan Yong, representing the People’s Republic of China.

During the signing ceremony, Vice President Gaolathe highlighted that since 2018, China has provided grants exceeding P1.12 billion to Botswana. These funds have supported various developmental projects, with additional proposals currently under consideration, including the Legolo Road in Gaborone and the Mmopane-Block 8 road. He also noted that Letters of Exchange had been signed for these initiatives.

Ambassador Fan Yong emphasized China’s ongoing commitment to supporting Botswana’s development efforts. He reiterated China’s willingness to share expertise and resources to further enhance cooperation and contribute to Botswana’s growth.

This agreement marks another step in the long-standing diplomatic and economic relationship between Botswana and China, fostering continued collaboration in infrastructure, technical expertise, and economic development.
