OLDM Hosts Diamond Trading Company Botswana Trainees for Mine Tour. Debswana Orapa, Letlhakane, and Damtshaa Mines (OLDM) recently welcomed trainees from Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB) for an educational mine tour. The visit followed the completion of the trainees’ six-month training program at DTCB and was organized by the OLDM Training Center.
The tour aimed to provide the trainees with practical exposure to mining operations, enhancing their understanding of diamond extraction, processing, and industry safety protocols.
During the visit, the trainees observed key mining activities, including ore extraction and processing techniques. They were also introduced to the operation of heavy machinery such as dump trucks, excavators, and conveyor systems, gaining firsthand insight into the various stages of mineral extraction.
In addition to technical observations, the tour highlighted the importance of safety measures and environmental management in mining operations. The trainees engaged with industry professionals, who shared insights into the day-to-day challenges and best practices within the mining sector.
The visit provided the DTCB trainees with valuable industry exposure, reinforcing their theoretical knowledge with real-world mining practices.
