BIHL Trust Donates P500,000 to Botswana Red Cross for Flood Relief. The BIHL Trust has extended a helping hand to communities affected by severe floods in Botswana, donating P500,000 to the Botswana Red Cross Society (BRCS) to support ongoing relief efforts. In addition to the financial contribution, the Trust also provided P40,000 worth of food hampers and clothing donations collected by staff from the BIHL Group.

The Kgatleng District, identified as the hardest-hit area, is the primary focus of the relief efforts. The BRCS aims to assist 275 households, benefiting approximately 1,285 individuals through targeted support in three key areas:

  • Cash Assistance – 100 households will each receive a P1,500 one-time payment to purchase essential food and supplies. Priority will be given to single women-led families, differently-abled individuals, and child-headed households.
  • Education Support – 100 children directly impacted by the floods will receive school uniforms and stationery to ensure they can continue their education.
  • Shelter Aid – 75 households with damaged homes will receive support, including P3,000 vouchers for highly vulnerable evacuees, such as women, children, and differently-abled individuals.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, BIHL Trust Chairman Ngwatshi Enyatseng emphasized the importance of collective efforts in times of crisis. He highlighted that the donation reflects BIHL Trust’s commitment to uplifting communities and ensuring that those in need receive urgent assistance.
