Botswana Showcases Tourism Strength at WTM Africa 2025. Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) has successfully wrapped up its participation at the 2025 edition of World Travel Market (WTM) Africa in Cape Town, marking a week of productive engagements and international networking.
Seventeen Botswana-based tour operators were hosted at the BTO stand, where they held meetings with global travel partners specialising in inbound tourism to Africa. The event served as a platform to strengthen strategic relationships and create new opportunities aimed at driving more travellers to Botswana.
The Honourable Minister of Environment and Tourism, Boipuso Wynter Mmolotsi, also took part in the event and led a benchmarking visit to prominent tourism and cultural sites in Cape Town. Stops included the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and the District Six Museum, among others.
These visits offered insight into tourism product development and cultural preservation, contributing ideas that may inform Botswana’s own tourism strategy. The benchmarking exercise forms part of broader efforts to diversify Botswana’s tourism offerings and maximise the sector’s socio-economic benefits.
BTO’s presence at WTM Africa aligns with its ongoing efforts to position Botswana as a competitive and compelling destination within the global tourism market. The networking and knowledge-sharing during the event underscore Botswana’s commitment to sustainable tourism development and innovation.
