The Botswana Digital and Innovation Hub (BDIH) is on the hunt for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to spearhead its ambitious vision of transforming Botswana into a leading hub for science, technology, and innovation.
This exciting opportunity calls for a dynamic and forward-thinking leader with the skills and experience to oversee the development and operations of Botswana’s first Science and Technology Park. The new CEO will play a pivotal role in fostering an ecosystem that supports startups, scales local companies, and attracts global players to create competitive, technology-driven, knowledge-based businesses.
About BDIH
The BDIH is incorporated as a company tasked with developing and operating a Science and Technology Park equipped with:
• State-of-the-art facilities including advanced telecommunications infrastructure and high-capacity international connectivity.
• Business services to support entrepreneurship and innovation.
• Revenue-generating property management aimed at ensuring financial sustainability.
The CEO Role
As the leader of BDIH, the CEO will be responsible for:
1. Shaping the Vision: Leading the formulation and execution of BDIH’s vision, mission, and long-term strategy.
2. Financial Strategy: Overseeing revenue generation, resource allocation, and investment attraction to ensure the Hub’s sustainability.
3. Stakeholder Engagement: Building strong relationships with government, entrepreneurs, and local and international partners to support strategic objectives.
4. Marketing and Branding: Positioning BDIH as a key player regionally and globally.
5. Governance: Ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards and local/international regulations.
6. Talent Management: Cultivating a high-performance culture and optimizing talent within the organization.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must possess:
• A degree in a Hub-related field such as Digital Innovation, ICT, Energy, Environment, or Mining.
• A postgraduate qualification in Business Management.
• At least 10 years of senior management experience, with 5 years at an executive level, and expertise in Business Development, Research and Development, Digitization, and General Management.
Key competencies include strategic thinking, interpersonal effectiveness, business acumen, team leadership, and a focus on results.
