The Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) is calling on local citrus farmers to express their interest and register for inclusion in a dedicated citrus farms database. This initiative is part of BITC’s broader mandate as an Investment and Trade Promotion Agency (ITPA), focused on investment promotion, export development, and nation branding. The overarching goal is to drive wealth creation for Batswana by increasing citizen participation in the economy and fostering sustainable job creation.

Purpose of the Database

The citrus farms database will enable BITC to provide targeted support to citrus farmers through:

Capacity Building for Market Access Development: Offering training and resources to enhance farmers’ readiness for both local and international markets.

Promotion of Agroprocessing and Business Linkages: Encouraging value addition to citrus products and connecting farmers with agroprocessors to boost profitability within the citrus value chain.

Facilitating Partnerships and Joint Ventures: Identifying opportunities for collaborations, partnerships, and joint ventures that enhance productivity, innovation, and market reach.

Call for Expression of Interest

Interested citrus farmers are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to BITC. Submissions must include the following details:

Name of the farm and year of establishment

Name and contact details of the person responsible for engagements

Farm location

Farm size

Production information, including types of citrus planted and hectarage covered

Submission Details

EOI submissions should be marked Expression of Interest – Citrus Farms Database and sent via email to:

Ms. Jeanette Mosiya at [email protected] and copied to [email protected]

• For inquiries, call +267 3633364 or +267 3633301

Hand-delivered submissions may be sent to BITC’s Head Office at Plot 54351 Exponential Building, Central Business District (CBD), Gaborone.

Deadline for Submissions: All EOIs must be received no later than 31 January 2025 at 17:00 hrs.

Cost of Registration

BITC emphasizes that there are no registration fees associated with this initiative.

By participating, citrus farmers will gain access to valuable resources, partnerships, and support systems that promote growth and competitiveness in the citrus industry. This initiative reflects BITC’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Botswana’s agricultural sector and creating sustainable economic opportunities.
