Botswana and UK Deepen Educational Ties Through High-Level Meeting. In a significant development in international relations, the Minister of Higher Education, Honourable Prince Maele, met with His Excellency Giles Enticknap MBE, the High Commissioner of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Botswana and the United Kingdom, with an emphasis on advancing higher education and technical training.

During the meeting, Minister Maele expressed his gratitude to the High Commissioner for the ongoing support provided to Botswana’s educational sector over the years. He specifically acknowledged the assistance through Commonwealth and Chevening scholarships, which have played an important role in enabling Botswana’s students to pursue higher education abroad. Minister Maele also shared his personal interest in visiting Great Britain. He explained that such a visit would allow him to benchmark Botswana’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiatives against international standards, thereby identifying potential areas for improvement in the local education system.

His Excellency Enticknap praised Botswana for its peaceful political transition and commended the country’s commitment to developing its human capital through education. The High Commissioner emphasized that the United Kingdom remains dedicated to working closely with the Ministry of Higher Education to further enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
