Botswana Government Acquires 45,000 Hectares to Address Land Scarcity in North East District

In a historic move to address land scarcity in the North East District, the Botswana government has finalized the acquisition of 45,000 hectares of freehold land from Tati Company Limited for P1.4 billion.

The title deeds were officially handed over to the government today in Francistown during a landmark ceremony. Dr. Micus Chimbombi, Minister of Lands and Agriculture, received the deeds on behalf of the government from Mr. Ogaisitse Khama of Tati Company Limited.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Chimbombi emphasized the importance of the acquisition in alleviating land shortages in the region, ensuring equitable access to land for development and community use.

This significant investment reflects the government’s commitment to addressing pressing land issues, promoting development, and supporting sustainable growth in the North East District.
