Botswana Opens Sedudu-Ngoma Road for 24-Hour Transit, Boosting Tourism and Connectivity. Botswana’s tourism and regional connectivity have received a major boost with the official opening of the Sedudu–Ngoma road for 24-hour transit. The route, which runs through Chobe National Park, was launched on April 1, 2025, by Minister of Environment and Tourism, Hon. Boipuso Wynter Mmolotsi.
This development enhances travel between Kasane and Chobe Enclave, making it more convenient for tourists and business travelers. The improved accessibility is expected to benefit the tourism sector while also supporting local businesses that rely on visitor traffic.
To maintain a balance between conservation and accessibility, strict regulations have been implemented. Travelers must remain on the designated 60-kilometer tarred route, stopping is only allowed in emergencies, and all vehicles must register at park entry points. Non-compliance will result in restricted access. These measures aim to protect Botswana’s diverse wildlife while allowing for smoother transit.
As part of the launch, the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP) introduced new uniforms for its officers, reinforcing the country’s commitment to conservation and responsible tourism.
