Botswana Strengthens Global Creative Industry Ties with U.S. Investment Talks. The National Arts Council of Botswana (NACB) has taken a significant step toward boosting the country’s creative industry on the global stage. Led by Acting CEO Otsetswe K. Koboyankwe, the NACB recently met with Botswana’s Ambassador to the United States, Mpho Mophuting, along with representatives from the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) and U.S.-based investment firm Global Venture Partners (GVP), to explore investment opportunities in Botswana’s creative sector.

The discussions focused on expanding Botswana’s cultural footprint internationally and unlocking access to global markets. Central to these talks was the Diamonds for Diversity campaign, which aims to showcase the cultural and economic significance of Botswana’s diamond industry while strengthening its connection to tourism and the arts.

A key highlight of the meeting was GVP’s proposal to invest in a portfolio of high-end media assets. This initiative would position Botswana as a global leader in media, luxury, and lifestyle, elevating the nation’s visibility on the international stage. Other proposed projects include cultural exchange programs, capacity building, skills development, job creation, and knowledge transfer within the creative industry.

NACB emphasized the vital role of arts and culture in telling Botswana’s story and reinforcing its economic and tourism sectors. By engaging with international stakeholders, the council aims to create sustainable opportunities that will develop and support Botswana’s creative industries both regionally and globally.

As Botswana continues to strengthen its international partnerships, this collaboration marks a promising step toward positioning the country as a hub for cultural excellence and creative innovation.
