Botswana Tourism Shines on Opening Day of WTM Africa 2025. The World Travel Market (WTM) Africa 2025 officially opened today in Cape Town, marking a strong start with productive business-to-business meetings between global tourism stakeholders. Among the notable participants was Botswana’s delegation, led by the Minister of Environment and Tourism, Hon. Boipuso Wynter Mmolotsi.

Minister Mmolotsi attended the opening ceremony alongside Mr. Justice Ofentse, Acting CEO of the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO). The event featured key presentations on tourism trends and global travel statistics, providing insights into emerging opportunities and challenges within the sector.

Following the opening, the Minister and Mr. Ofentse visited the Botswana stand, where they met with industry partners and stakeholders. A total of 17 Botswana-based tourism operators are exhibiting under the national stand, representing a range of travel services and destinations across the country.

The day also included Minister Mmolotsi’s participation in a high-level panel discussion, where he joined regional and international tourism experts in addressing issues affecting tourism growth in Africa. The dialogue focused on enhancing sustainable tourism, regional cooperation, and the role of innovation in shaping the future of travel on the continent.

WTM Africa serves as a leading platform for advancing partnerships and promoting tourism investment in Africa. Botswana’s strong presence highlights its continued commitment to positioning the country as a competitive and attractive destination in the global travel market.
