Botswana’s MICE Industry Generates P207 Million, Poised for Further Growth. Botswana’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector has contributed approximately P207 million in revenue over the past three years, covering 2022, 2023, and 2024.

This information was disclosed by Shatho Lopang, Acting Executive Manager of Investment and Product Development at the Botswana Tourism Organisation, during the 2025 FNBB National Budget Review. Lopang highlighted that these earnings reflect the country’s growing potential to expand its MICE industry and enhance its economic impact.

In addition to revenue growth, Botswana has also seen a significant rise in its conferencing infrastructure. From 2013 to 2024, the country’s conference hosting capacity increased by 59%, indicating steady investment in the sector.

On a global scale, the MICE industry was valued at USD 658.5 billion in 2021 and is forecasted to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.6% between 2022 and 2030. This trend presents opportunities for Botswana to further position itself as a key destination for business tourism, leveraging its infrastructure and strategic location in the region.

With the MICE sector showing strong potential, continued investment and targeted policies could help Botswana attract more international events, further boosting revenue and job creation.
