Botswana’s Ministry of Higher Education to Highlight Entrepreneurship at TVET Graduation Ceremony. The Ministry of Higher Education has announced the upcoming Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2024. The event, set for February 20, 2025, will take place at BA ISAGO University in Gaborone, beginning at 07:00hrs.
A total of 1,102 graduates from Brigades and Certificate-offering Technical Colleges across Botswana will be honored for their academic achievements. This year’s ceremony will emphasize the role of entrepreneurship in vocational education, showcasing how TVET graduates are prepared not only for employment but also to create and manage their own businesses.
With youth unemployment being a critical issue in Botswana, the Ministry is committed to fostering a Transformative Higher Education Ecosystem that prioritizes innovation and self-sufficiency. Through the TVET program, students gain hands-on experience and entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to launch their own enterprises and contribute to economic growth.
The event will feature a keynote address by the Assistant Minister of Higher Education, Honorable Justin Hunyepa, who will discuss the importance of vocational education in empowering young entrepreneurs. He will highlight government initiatives supporting TVET graduates in accessing funding, mentorship, and business development resources.
The Ministry has extended invitations to members of the media, educators, stakeholders, and the general public to join in celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of the Class of 2024. This graduation ceremony underscores the government’s commitment to equipping young people with the tools necessary to drive innovation and build sustainable businesses that strengthen Botswana’s economy.
