As preparations for the BTC Francistown Marathon gain momentum, Boitumelo Paya, Acting CEO of Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC), met with Honourable David Tshere, Minister of Communication and Innovation, to discuss the event’s significance and impact.
During the meeting, Paya reaffirmed BTC’s commitment to supporting local businesses, emphasizing that most suppliers involved in the marathon are based in Francistown. This aligns with BTC’s broader goal of fostering economic growth and community participation in the region.
Paya also highlighted the BTC Francistown Marathon’s role as a qualifying event for the Comrades Marathon, a prestigious ultramarathon that attracts elite athletes from around the world. Many local runners use the Francistown Marathon to secure their qualifying times, providing them with an opportunity to compete on an international stage.
