Chinese Companies Support Segoditshane River Desilting to Aid Flood Relief. The desilting of the Segoditshane River along Willie Seboni Road has officially commenced, with support from a group of Chinese companies operating in Botswana. The initiative is part of ongoing disaster relief efforts following recent floods in Gaborone.

During the launch of the project, Gaborone City Council Mayor Oarabile Motlaleng commended the companies for their contribution, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the aftermath of the floods. He expressed gratitude to all businesses and individuals who have extended aid to disaster relief initiatives.

In addition to the work along Willie Seboni Road, desilting operations will also be carried out at key river crossings, including areas near Block 5 Satellite Police Station and Maoka Junior School. These efforts aim to improve water drainage and mitigate the impact of heavy rains in the affected locations.

The initiative underscores the vital role of public-private partnerships in disaster response and infrastructure maintenance. Authorities continue to encourage further support from stakeholders to strengthen flood prevention measures and enhance the city’s resilience against extreme weather conditions.
