Choppies Signs One-Year Sponsorship Deal with Young Tennis Talent Malak Macheng. In a groundbreaking move for local tennis, 13-year-old Malak Macheng has secured a one-year sponsorship deal with Choppies Botswana, marking a milestone as the first local tennis player to receive corporate backing.

Choppies’ Marketing and Public Relations Executive, Kebonyemodisa Kebonyemodisa, confirmed the agreement and highlighted the company’s interest in supporting young, promising female athletes. Malak was selected based on her performance record and potential in the sport.

As part of the sponsorship, Choppies will cover travel expenses for major competitions, provide tennis apparel and equipment, and offer a monthly allowance to support her training and participation.“We believe that young athletes like Malak should be able to focus on their development and competition without being burdened by financial concerns,” said Kebonyemodisa.

This partnership is seen as a significant step forward for tennis in Botswana, where corporate sponsorship in the sport remains limited. It also reflects a broader commitment to nurturing youth talent and encouraging gender equity in sports.

Malak’s sponsorship is expected to ease her journey as she continues to represent Botswana in regional and international tournaments, giving her the opportunity to build on her early successes.
