Ednah Rosen Showcases Botswana’s Culinary Heritage on the Global Stage. Arts & Culture Grant for the 2023/24 cycle has spotlighted the remarkable work of Ednah Rosen, a beneficiary who has dedicated her career to elevating Botswana’s culinary traditions. With over 30 years of international experience, including time spent living and working in Sweden, Rosen continues to promote Botswana’s cuisine to audiences around the world.
Rosen’s cookbook, Taste of Botswana, has gained widespread recognition, earning the title of “Best African Cuisine Book” in both 2017 and 2023. The publication features a collection of traditional recipes, celebrating the depth and variety of Botswana’s food culture.
As part of her growing international presence, Rosen recently participated in the Saudi Feast Food Festival in Riyadh, where she presented dishes inspired by Botswana’s local ingredients and techniques. This platform provided an opportunity to introduce the country’s culinary heritage to new audiences, reinforcing the global appeal of Botswana’s traditional meals.
In addition to her international engagements, Rosen has led culinary masterclasses in both Botswana and South Africa. She has also hosted exclusive dining experiences, including a notable collaboration with author Sir Alexander McCall Smith, further expanding the reach of Botswana’s food story.
With support from the Arts & Culture Grant, Rosen continues to share her passion for cooking while promoting Botswana’s culinary identity on a global scale. Through her work as a private chef and author, she remains committed to preserving and sharing the flavors of Botswana with diverse audiences.
