Eswatini Tourism Authority Engages Botswana for Benchmarking on Grading and Classification. The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) welcomed a delegation from the Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) on a benchmarking visit aimed at learning from Botswana’s grading and classification system for tourism establishments.
The delegation, led by ETA’s Product Development Manager, Ms. Tengetile Nxumalo, and Assistant Quality Assurance Officer, Ms. Nelisiwe Sigwane, arrived in Botswana to gain insights into how the country maintains quality and standards within its tourism sector.
The four-day visit officially began with presentations by BTO’s Grading Manager, Ms. Joyce Morontshe. These sessions provided an overview of Botswana’s grading framework, which is designed to ensure consistency, high service standards, and competitiveness on an international scale.
Throughout the visit, both organisations have engaged in discussions focused on operational strategies, policy development, and best practices that support effective grading and classification of tourism facilities. The exchange of ideas aims to enhance both countries’ approaches to improving the quality and reliability of accommodation and service offerings within the tourism industry.
Botswana’s system has played a key role in establishing the country as a reputable destination for travelers, and the knowledge shared during this visit is expected to contribute to the refinement of Eswatini’s own processes.
BTO extended its appreciation to the Eswatini Tourism Authority for initiating this collaborative effort, with the hope that ongoing cooperation will strengthen tourism standards across the region.
