Goitseone Gadifele Set to Lead Jwaneng Mine as New General Manager

Goitseone Gadifele is stepping into a pivotal leadership role as the new General Manager of Jwaneng Mine, the world’s richest diamond mine. His appointment marks a new chapter of growth and innovation for the mine, where he previously served as Acting General Manager.

A seasoned mining engineer with 18 years of experience, Gadifele joined Debswana in 2006 and has risen steadily through the ranks in a highly competitive industry. He has held key leadership roles, including Mining Manager Operations, Senior Mining Manager, and Acting General Manager of Jwaneng Mine.

Debswana expressed confidence in Gadifele’s expertise and leadership. His deep knowledge of large-scale open-pit and underground mining, coupled with a history of operational excellence, positions him to drive the mine’s continued success.

Gadifele’s academic credentials reflect his dedication to technical mastery and business acumen. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mining with Honours from the University of Exeter in the UK and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cumbria, Switzerland. He has also completed executive leadership programs at GIBS Business School and Stellenbosch Business School.

Throughout his career, Gadifele has prioritized safety, innovation, and efficiency. Under his leadership, Jwaneng Mine earned the AfriSAFE Occupational Health & Safety Award for Mining Company of the Year in 2022 and 2023. He also pioneered advanced mining techniques, including deep slope and battered slope mining in the Cut 8 North East corner, effectively mitigating geotechnical challenges.

Another standout achievement during his tenure is Jwaneng Mine’s unprecedented four consecutive wins of the Anglo Golden Plant Award from 2020 to 2023, reflecting his commitment to operational excellence.

Debswana described Gadifele’s appointment as a continuation of its focus on innovation, efficiency, and a people-first approach. His leadership promises to enhance the mine’s global reputation as a leading diamond producer and set new benchmarks for safety, sustainability, and technological advancement.
