Government Engages Bobonong Business Community on Tourism and Environmental Opportunities. In a move to strengthen business participation in Botswana’s environmental and tourism sectors, Honourable Minister Wynter Boipuso led a Kgotla meeting in Bobonong on March 21, 2025. The engagement aimed to provide local businesses and entrepreneurs with direct access to ministry services, outlining opportunities for growth in sustainable tourism, conservation-driven enterprises, and environmental management.
Accompanied by his Permanent Secretary, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, and Directors, Minister Boipuso emphasized the economic potential of the environment and tourism industries, urging businesses to explore opportunities in eco-tourism, hospitality, and conservation-focused enterprises.
The event featured exhibitions from various government departments, showcasing services relevant to businesses, investors, and community-driven initiatives. The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) presented Botswana’s rich tourism offerings, encouraging local businesses to position themselves as key players in the country’s thriving travel industry.
Local entrepreneurs engaged with government officials, raising questions about land access, business incentives, and policies supporting SMEs in tourism and environmental sectors. In response, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing ease of doing business, simplifying licensing processes, and promoting public-private partnerships in conservation and eco-tourism.
This initiative aligns with Botswana’s economic diversification strategy, ensuring that businesses in rural areas benefit from government support, investment opportunities, and access to sustainable markets. The Ministry also highlighted upcoming funding programs, training workshops, and policy updates that will further support business growth in the green economy.
By taking government services directly to business communities, the Ministry is fostering an inclusive, investment-friendly environment, positioning Botswana as a leader in sustainable tourism and environmental enterprise development.
