JICA and BTO Discuss Development of Tourism Statistics Dashboard. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) have initiated discussions on a Tourism Statistics Dashboard aimed at enhancing data management in Botswana’s tourism sector.
A JICA delegation, led by Mr. Koji Asano, visited BTO headquarters for a meet-and-greet session with the organization’s management. They were joined by Tourism Officers Ms. Lebogang Letshelo and Ms. Keikantsemang Koosimile from the Department of Tourism.
The meeting focused on potential collaboration between JICA and BTO to develop a centralized platform for collecting, analyzing, and presenting tourism-related data. The envisioned dashboard aims to provide comprehensive insights into visitor trends, economic contributions, and tourism performance, benefiting industry stakeholders and policymakers.
BTO representatives highlighted the importance of integrating existing tourism statistics into the proposed system to ensure accuracy and accessibility. This initiative aligns with Botswana’s broader strategy to leverage technology for sustainable tourism growth.
By improving data collection and analysis, the dashboard is expected to support evidence-based decision-making, enhance tourism marketing strategies, and contribute to policy formulation.
The collaboration between JICA and BTO demonstrates a shared commitment to advancing Botswana’s tourism industry through innovation and strategic partnerships.
