KBL Highlights Investment, Policy, and Collaboration in Botswana’s Economic Future. The 2025 Budget Speech has brought key economic issues to the forefront, including diversification, tax policy, and sustainable investment. Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL) has engaged in discussions on these topics, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between industries and policymakers.

On February 10, 2025, a representative from KBL joined The Punchline Podcast with Lawrence Seretse, alongside industry leaders, to discuss insights from the budget speech delivered by Botswana’s Vice President and Minister of Finance, Ndaba Gaolathe. The discussion focused on regulatory collaboration, supply chain development, and local sourcing as essential factors for economic growth.

KBL has outlined efforts to reduce reliance on imports, with approximately 80% of its inputs currently sourced externally. The company has initiated trials for local sorghum procurement, aiming to strengthen supply chains, support farmers, and create employment opportunities.

The company also highlighted the significance of a stable regulatory environment, particularly in areas like digital invoicing and tax structures. The discussion addressed the need for clear policies that support business growth while ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

As a subsidiary of AB InBev, KBL has expressed its long-term investment vision for Botswana. The company noted that Botswana is among the countries that impose a levy in addition to excise tax, which may impact foreign investment decisions. It emphasized the importance of policy alignment to create an environment conducive to sustained business growth.

By fostering collaboration between government and industries, KBL believes Botswana can advance economic diversification and long-term prosperity. The company encourages continued dialogue to support policies that promote investment and development across various sectors.
