North East District Council Calls for Bids to Supply Bread to Local Schools. The North East District Council (NEDC) has invited local suppliers to express their interest in providing bread to primary schools in the district for the 2025 academic year. The schools set to benefit from this initiative are Gambule, Moroka, and Matopi Primary Schools.

In an official announcement, the council urged interested individuals from the district to collect application forms from school heads at the designated schools starting February 10, 2025. The completed application and required documents must be submitted to the Procurement Office at Ipelegeng Offices, Behind Masunga Clinic (Bus Rank), by February 18, 2025. Submissions will be accepted during official working hours: 07:30 – 12:45 hrs and 13:45 – 16:30 hrs

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet specific eligibility and compliance criteria, including:

  • A completed application form
  • A certified copy of Omang (national ID)
  • A valid Food Handler Medical Certificate
  • A letter of residence proof signed by the village Kgosi (chief)
  • Preference will be given to residents of the respective villages

The council has also specified that applicants can bid for both the Thursday teabreak menu and the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday breakfast menu, ensuring adequate supply for students.

The initiative aligns with the council’s efforts to empower local communities by offering business opportunities to residents. By prioritizing suppliers from Gambule, Moroka, and Matopi, the program ensures that economic benefits remain within the district, supporting small-scale food vendors and entrepreneurs.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply within the given timeline to contribute to the well-being of students while benefiting from a steady business opportunity in the education sector.
