“Okavango Is Calling 2025” to Spotlight Sustainability and Economic Opportunity in Botswana. Preparations are underway for the highly anticipated “Okavango Is Calling 2025,” a global event scheduled to take place from 20–22 June 2025 in Maun and the Okavango Delta. The gathering is positioned to drive impactful conversations and actions around sustainable tourism, economic growth, and international cooperation.
The event supports Botswana’s national goals by promoting sustainable development, empowering local businesses, and fostering global partnerships. It is expected to inject over BWP 4 million into the local economy annually, with more than 60% of spending earmarked for local procurement and support for small and medium enterprises through Sustainability and Community Development Impact Initiatives (S&CDiis).
With a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship, “Okavango Is Calling 2025” will showcase leadership in sustainability through initiatives such as solar-powered infrastructure, climate action solutions, and anti-poaching innovations aimed at preserving the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Okavango Delta.
The event also seeks to advance Botswana’s international footprint through engagements that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDGs 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 13 (Climate Action), 15 (Life on Land), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Communities around the Delta will play a key role, with artisan networks, youth-led programs, and pop-up markets offering locally made products and eco-tourism innovations, creating direct benefits for host regions.
Businesses, NGOs, and corporate stakeholders are invited to participate by booking exhibition booths, connecting with global investors, and engaging in strategic dialogues with diplomatic delegations.
