OLDM GM Updates Boteti Council on Business Performance and Community Investments. Orapa, Letlhakane, and Damtshaa Mines (OLDM) General Manager Mogakolodi Maoketsa has briefed the Boteti Full Council on the latest developments in the business, reaffirming OLDM’s commitment to community development and economic sustainability.

As part of Debswana’s “Making Life Brilliant” mission, Maoketsa revealed that each Debswana site is allocated P10 million annually for Corporate Social Investment (CSI) projects. OLDM surpassed this target in 2024, contributing an additional P8.2 million through employee volunteerism, benefiting 21 villages in the Area of Influence (AOI).

Business partners also played a role, collectively donating over P3 million to fund borehole drilling, preschool construction, and larger projects such as building classroom blocks and teachers’ accommodations.

A highlight of OLDM’s contributions is the GM’s Charity Walk, which has facilitated major projects, including:A P2.4 million classroom block at Mmea Primary School.P4.2 million in refurbishments for Rakops Primary Hospital’s theater, currently in the tender adjudication phase.

Maoketsa also noted that OLDM invested P41 million in healthcare in 2024, assisting 86,352 non-contributory patients through the Orapa Mine Hospital. Additionally, the company has initiated food security projects, including developments at Khwee Ranch, Malatsawe Ranch, and Xhumo Farm.

Acknowledging current challenges, Maoketsa confirmed that Debswana has implemented austerity measures due to subdued diamond markets, including reductions in production levels.
