OLDM Hosts Business Partners Leadership Pitso to Address Safety and Employee Welfare. Orapa, Letlhakane, and Damtshaa Mines (OLDM) recently hosted a Business Partners Leadership Pitso in Orapa. Organized by the Department of Supply Chain Management and Safety and Sustainable Development, the event provided a platform to discuss key business, operational, and safety challenges.
OLDM General Manager, Mr. Mogakolodi Maoketsa, led the engagement, highlighting the importance of employee welfare, governance, business growth, and safety performance. He commended Business Partners for contributing to the mine’s strong safety record but acknowledged that OLDM had missed its All-Injury Frequency Rate (AIFR) target. He urged a renewed focus on reducing both major and minor injuries, aligning with the 2025 safety theme, “Setho sa Rona”, and the Quad Zero initiative.
A key focus of the discussion was employee welfare, particularly concerns over delayed or unpaid wages and the psychological effects on workers. Mr. Maoketsa emphasized the need for Business Partners to uphold fair labor practices, ensure timely wage payments, and comply with labor laws. He called for sound financial planning to prevent wage delays and underscored the importance of ethical business practices that prioritize employee well-being.
The Pitso reinforced OLDM’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards and fostering responsible business partnerships that contribute to a safer and more sustainable working environment.
