OLEA Expands in Africa with Acquisition of Marsh Botswana and Uganda. Pan-African insurance brokerage OLEA has announced its plans to acquire Marsh Botswana and Marsh Uganda, further solidifying its presence across the continent. The deal is currently awaiting approval from regulatory authorities in both countries. This acquisition builds on a five-year collaboration between OLEA and Marsh and aligns with OLEA’s long-term strategy to expand its footprint in Africa.
Paris-based OLEA Insurance Solutions first entered East Africa in 2019 by acquiring a 40% stake in Kenya’s Koolridge Insurance Brokers. At the time, Nairobi was identified as a key gateway to Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania, markets where OLEA had already established a strong commercial presence.
Now, with the addition of Marsh Botswana and the merger of Marsh Uganda into its existing operations, OLEA is taking another significant step in its expansion journey.
Olivier Canuel, CEO of OLEA Group, welcomed the teams from Marsh Botswana and Uganda, highlighting how this move will enhance OLEA’s capabilities and strengthen its risk management services across the two strategic markets.
Vincent de Charnacé, CEO of OLEA East & Southern Africa, emphasized the company’s commitment to investing in local talent and resources, ensuring a smooth transition and continued high-quality service.
Meanwhile, Guy Royston, CEO of Marsh McLennan’s Africa Regional Operations, expressed confidence in OLEA’s ability to take over operations in Botswana and Uganda while reaffirming Marsh’s ongoing commitment to the African market.
