President Boko Calls for Economic Reforms at Business Engagement Forum. President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko has urged Botswana’s business sector and policymakers to drive economic transformation, citing youth unemployment, income inequality, and poverty as critical challenges facing the nation.
Speaking at a high-level business engagement forum, President Boko emphasized that poverty is a violation of human rights and called for collective action to create decent jobs and fair wages. He urged Members of Parliament to introduce laws that improve the ease of doing business, enabling a more investor-friendly environment.
The President also highlighted the need for infrastructure development to attract foreign direct investment (FDI). He stressed that Botswana must focus on climate-resilient infrastructure, particularly in light of recent flooding disasters.
Additionally, Boko advocated for increased efficiency in economic governance, calling for anti-corruption efforts and the digitization of public services to enhance productivity and streamline business operations.
Concluding his address, the President urged stakeholders to reimagine Botswana’s economic direction by investing in its people and making substantial improvements across key sectors. His speech reinforced the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and economic resilience in the country.
