President Boko Engages Street Vendors on Economic Inclusion and Support. President Duma Boko has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the informal sector, emphasizing its crucial role in Botswana’s economy. In a discussion with Thusang Bagwebi Association and the Informal Sector Association, the President engaged directly with street vendors, addressing their challenges and exploring solutions to create a more sustainable and dignified business environment.

During the engagement, key issues such as infrastructure improvements, financial inclusion, and policy reforms were discussed to ensure vendors can operate efficiently. President Boko acknowledged that the informal sector supports thousands of livelihoods and plays a significant role in economic resilience.

“As a government, we remain committed to empowering our entrepreneurs and ensuring that every Motswana, regardless of their trade, has the opportunity to succeed,” he stated.

The discussions underscored the need for structured support mechanisms, including improved market spaces, access to financial resources, and streamlined regulations that protect vendors while fostering business growth.

The engagement marks a step toward formalizing and recognizing the contributions of informal traders, aligning with broader efforts to strengthen Botswana’s entrepreneurship landscape.
