WHO Representative Engages South African and Russian Diplomats on Health Collaboration. World Health Organization (WHO) Representative Dr. Fabian Ndenzako met with South African and Russian diplomats in Botswana to discuss strengthening international health partnerships. The meetings, held yesterday, focused on regional health cooperation, disease prevention, and medical advancements.

During discussions with South African High Commissioner H.E. Thaninga Shope-Soumah, Dr. Ndenzako emphasized the need for cross-border collaboration between Botswana and South Africa. Key topics included improving preparedness and response to health emergencies, strengthening laboratory and diagnostic services, and advancing technology transfer for local vaccine and therapeutic manufacturing. The engagement highlighted efforts to enhance regional health security and cooperation.

In a separate meeting with H.E. Mr. Andrey V. Kemarskiy, Ambassador of Russia to Botswana, Dr. Ndenzako acknowledged Russia’s role in supporting global health initiatives. The discussions focused on Russia’s engagement with WHO, particularly in combating non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and efforts to eliminate malaria.

Both meetings reinforced the importance of international partnerships in public health. Strengthening Botswana’s health system through global collaboration remains a priority, with WHO playing a key role in fostering these relationships.
